Who we are

The group is open to all catagories of staff at the university who cycle to the campus and was formed to increase the use and the facilities for bicycles at the Open University. We hope you will find the information here interesting.
The University is situated in the 'new city' of Milton Keynes (See map), in the north of Buckinghamshire, approximately half way between London and Birmingham. Being a national institution using 'distance teaching' methods we have no large numbers of students on campus, so the numbers of cyclists are lower than a conventional university. Even so we have a hard core of approximately 150 cyclists whose numbers increase in the summer months (and good weather!).

OUBUG aims

  • To raise the profile of cycling and to encourage more staff to commute by cycle.
  • To provide a recognised voice for campus cyclists and to represent their interests on the Transport Management Working Group.
  • To campaign for better cycle security and facilities on campus.
  • To provide information and advice for potential cycle commuters.
