MATERIALS ENGINEERING - POSITIONS AVAILABLE - EPSRC

PhD Position

This is an EPSRC funded PhD position under Professor Mike Fitzpatrick, part of the new 1.8M consortium in "Performance and Reliability of Metallic Materials for Nuclear Fission Power Generation", and will focus on creep and damage development in materials for high-temperature power plant components.

Other Information

The position would suit a graduate with a qualification in Materials, Physics or Engineering at Bachelor's level or above. The work will be full time, therefore students are required to study for a minimum of 35 hours a week, living within 15 miles of the Walton Hall campus; in exceptional circumstances you may be able to live further away with the approval of the Faculty of Maths Computing and Technology.

The national minimum stipend for EPSRC-funded PhD students for academic year 2010/11 is 13,590 per year.

The PhD will start in early 2011 and will last for for 3 years.

The closing date for applications is 31st May 2011. Applications received after this date cannot be considered for this position.
