The Digital Imaging Laboratory

The Digital Imaging Lab was created to provide digital video, audio and still imaging facilities for research and teaching projects.

The Lab has a range of video cameras in the DV and DVCAM formats and editing workstations using Adobe Premiere on PC and Apple Final Cut Pro on Mac.

Still imaging is based around Canon digital cameras, with Adobe Photoshop imaging software on PC and Macs. There is A3 printing and scanning in the Lab and a large format printer for A1 and AO prints is available in an adjacent room. There is also a photographic studio equipped with electronic flash for digital photography in a controllable environment.

Digital audio recording is supported by a range of recording  devices, including Marantz, Maycom and Olympus. The Lab has a range of Sony and Seinheisser microphones for use with the audio and video equipment, and the audio editing software is Adobe Audition.

The Lab has software to present digital media in differing standards and formats.

Technical support is provided by a full time Project Officer, and equipment can be borrowed for individual projects.
